The Geraldton Jet Leads A West Aussie Krikke Boys Whitewash!
Author : Dean Neal

Despite being an occasional competitor in recent seasons, Mark Wells proved last night in front of a killer night 1 Bunbury City Speedway Crowd that natural ability can still prevail where seat time lacks.

“Thanks to my team and Geoff Murphy for setting up an awesome racecar. We hardly made a change to the car all night, it just suited the track perfect and sets us up nicely for tomorrow night's big finale,” Wells remarked at victory lane.

But for one false start error early in the night, the #21 J&J beast was locked down fast and more importantly, Wells revealed aggression and brilliant reflexes during race starts and restarts to really set himself up for a big tilt at the $20,000 first place pay day tonight.

The man who races with WA95 on his tail tank and the boys Darryl and Jason Krikke etched on his heart – Ryan Farrell – secured a strong runner-up spot to also set up a strong run for a desperate attempt to finally secure his first Krikke Boys Shootout crown tonight in front of an expected lock-out crowd.

“The boys would love what this race has become having known them so well. Hopefully we can finally ice this and take a Krikke Boys home. If we do win…watch out everyone because we will celebrate it hard,” Farrell exclaimed in typical raw emotion.

Max Dumesny was solid for third and as always will threaten when it matters.

“Tonight was tough, hopefully the track comes to us for the big feature race and we can get it done again,” Dumesny said.

Initially Brock Mayes secured the final guaranteed dash spot for tonight's finale in the 92.9 Eagle machine, however by not reporting to the mandatory weigh-in, was docked one position, thus allowing West Aussie Jamie Maiolo to secure that vital heat-bypass opportunity for tonight's massive finale.

It was fair to say the track condition whilst looking very good early, deteriorated during the night and made things challenging for the big lineup of cars on hand.

Rapidly rising rookie Ben Ellement secured quick time for Russell Hall's Bunbury Mitsubishi, before leaning his engine off too far in his heat race.

“We have had a torrid time with our engine program this season. Peter Morris from Maxwill engines is down here and has offered to look at what we are doing with our motor so we can run up front for the rest of this,” remarked a frustrated Ellement.

With perfect weather conditions and a massive crowd anticipated, tonight's Krikke Boys Shootout is sure to be memorable!
